The air was filled with excitement recently when I recently found out that my programming talent had got me yet another accolade. One of my programming projects had racked up second place at a competition called ‘CreateHS.’ For those unfamiliar with CreateHS, it is a programming competition for teenagers on a global scale, the goal is to create a website with a certain objective in mind. A group of seasoned judges sift through all the entries to deem what they consider the best website that meets that objective. Its not hard to believe that the competition was created by a teenager itself. The aim was to give teenagers all over the world a chance to showcase what they’ve created on the Internet, and even earn some recognition for it. All happening on a global scale.
I was extremely glad to know that my project made it to the top three best entries of the competition. Having this been the first programming competition I have ever entered,I was surprised to know that I had actually won. What’s even cooler are the people who judged my project. One of the judges was Max Levchin, the CTO and co-founder of Paypal. The feeling of knowing that someone who has made such a big difference in the world, actually judged my abilities to also create something neat was absolutely amazing! I was even happier to know that one of the prizes included a Microsoft Xbox 360, which made the win even better!
It feels great to know that I actually managed to win a programming competition, on my very first try and also despite being the youngest in the competition, just 15 years old. I hope this is just the beginning of something much bigger! But for now I’m ready for the next challenge to get to the top…
